Bangkok Metro Map
To avoid traffic, metro lines MRT and BTS are a convenient way to travel as well as to link to the airport.

⇦ The fare depends on number of stations travelled, from 15 baht to 52 baht. The fare info chart will be posted at each station, next to the ticket vending machines.

Note that for the BTS, most ticket machines only take coins so if you only have notes, you'll need to line up at ticket booths to get some change then use the machines. The staff at the ticket booths will not sell you tickets, just give you coins.

Airport Rail Link

The metro lines are linked to the Airport Rail Link, MRT's Phetchaburi Station as well as BTS's Phya Thai Station. At the stations, there will be signs in English pointing you to the Airport Rail Link's Makkasan Station.

From, MRT's Phetchaburi Station, take Exit 1. It takes about 7 minutes to walk to the the City Line of Airport Rail Link's Makkasan Station. City Line stops at a few stops so it's slower but cheaper.

River Taxi & Ferry

BTS Saphan Taksin Station's Exit 2 is a minute from Sathorn Pier, where you can catch a boat to various destinations along the Chao Phraya River. There are 2 piers — the one on the right is for long tail boats whereas the one on the left is where the Chao Phraya Express Boat Service is ⇩

If you're pressed for time, you can take the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat, which has fewer stops and costs a flat fee of 40 baht one way or 150 baht per day. It's marked by a blue flag at the back of the boat.

The boat marked with an orange flag is only 15 baht but stops more frequently so takes longer — you can buy tickets on the boat from staff in an orange top holding a silver change tube.

⇦ If you simply want to cross the river, take the 3-baht river ferry that takes a couple of minutes to do so.
