Sea Flower Resort

Sea Flower Resort is located on Hat Tha Nam, otherwise known as Lonely Beach. The main road a couple of minutes walk out has many restaurants. It can be booked online via agoda, although I believe it's slightly cheaper to book in person.

Maybe this is not the hotel's fault per se, but all throughout the night until 4 am, you can hear the sound of booming music since the path right outside is lined with bars playing very loud music and tattoo parlors. With earplugs, you can sometimes still feel the bass, depending on where the party is - the different bars seem to rotate in hosting parties different days of the week. If you're looking for peace and quiet at night, this is not the place for you, especially since other (very inconsiderate) guests might wander back at 3 am and speak loudly on their porch. We booked 3 nights after I read a review claiming this place to be near the action yet quiet - Close to action, maybe, but it is most definitely not "quiet" by any stretch of the imagination. It might be a good option if you're here to party, since it's fairly quiet during the day.

Our 500-baht fan bungalow is very small, with a nice shared balcony. In mid-March, it is very hot inside the room during the day even with the fan on the strongest setting and the window open - we need to sit outside feeding the mosquitoes because it's really hot inside the tiny room. The rotating function of our fan was broken and the fan blades have been replaced with ridiculously small ones that don't really cool the room well. Because our room was next to the motorcycle parking and the mini mart, every time someone enters or exits the shop, it made a bing-bong noise - a lot of people go in and out of the shop, making it super annoying. It is not a standalone bungalow, although some others are - I believe it's randomly assigned. I think the hotel might be much more tolerable if you get a different room since the grounds are really quite lovely.

The more expensive 850 baht air-con bungalows look very nice and face the ocean - if you have the budget for it, I think it's much more worthwhile to get these rooms since with an air-conditioner, you can keep your windows closed and maybe keep the noise out. The ocean is less than a minute away, along with a small rocky beach and lounge chairs. The paths are lined with trees and plants, lush and beautiful. It really is quite lovely sitting by the ocean, reading or relaxing. The sandy part of Lonely Beach is a 10-minute walk away - good for swimming!

There's a small shop onsite that opens from 8 am to 10:30 pm - no toilet paper's provided so we were told to buy our own. Our shower is either very strong and cool or weaker and warm. Also, the toilet seat's broken. On the plus side, the bed's a decent size and pretty comfortable. There are screens on all the windows so fewer bugs get in. The ocean side massage place gave a decent oil massage for 300 baht per hour. Wifi works well (even by the ocean!) but you have to log in every time you turn on your computer and the log in changes every 3 days.
If you want to stay some place quieter, Gu Bay at Bailan Bay is a 3-minute taxi ride away. Seabreeze Resort near Kai Bae Beach is also very quiet.
