Kai Bae View Point, just north of
Lonely Beach, is a small area on the side of the road where you can stop by to get a view of the bay and a few beautiful small islands - popular place to catch the
sunset.

Kai Bae Beach's main road is peaceful yet convenient, with
7-11,
24-hour Tesco supermarket, a
currency exchange booth, fruit shops, cafes/bakeries, and many stores as well as
international restaurants that are a bit pricey. There's a
water refill machine where you can get
drinking water for 1 baht per liter across the street from 7-11.

Local dishes are generally 60-150+ baht each; non Thai food usually cost around 150-250+ baht. A few bars on the main street offer drinks and shisha/hookah; for example, Mojito Lounge sometimes has people dancing to techno music at night.
Bobby Food Shop, a Muslim restaurant, has cheaper dishes starting from 45 baht as well as sweet and savory rotee - maybe not the best food, but less expensive. We thought Ciao, despite being a bit pricey, has good pizza & superb ravioli al pesto - order some bread to soak up the sauce! Barrio Bonito is not cheap but has great Mexican food, particularly the enchiladas and the kid's chicken quesadilla. Morgans also has decent food - we quite liked their Panang curry & all-day breakfast.

We are staying at
Seabreeze Resort for a week and quite like this area. Just walking around, we saw bungalows starting from
450 baht; for example,
Buzza's Bungalows or
Siam Cottage.
Relax Center offers rooms for
200 baht, although the scantily clad lady sitting at the front desk makes it seem slightly sketchy.
Air-conditioned rooms are over
600-750 baht; for instance,
Paradise Bungalows.
Although lined with seaside bungalows, there are not that many people on the beach, much fewer than most
other beaches in fact. The beach is not as wide as
White Sand Beach, and there are more rocks in the ocean than
Lonely Beach. With lush mountains on one side and a few beautiful islands in the ocean, it's a quiet and relaxing place to sit on the sand far from shore, soaking in sun-warmed sea water.
You can also rent
kayaks at the hut in front of
Kai Bae Beach Grand Villa for
100 baht an hour (
300 baht for 4 hours or
500 baht for 8 hours).
Turn in to the beach from the path opposite the 7-11 at the south end to
Kai Bae Hut and that's the start of the
south stretch of beach, with lots of little rocks. Walk
farther south and there are far less rocks and more
soft sand. The sand seems more tightly packed so it's not as soft to walk on.
There are
rip current warnings although the
water's quite shallow. Sometimes you might see
elephants from the nearby camp on the beach. To get directly to the
soft sandy section of the beach, turn into the road leading to
Kai Bae Beach Resort. Despite the mostly sandy seabed, don't be surprised by the occasional rock in the ocean.
To get to the
north end of the beach, you can turn into the path opposite
Island Life Sales Office leading to
Siam Cottage. The beach has
coarser and darker sand, mixed with tiny bits of rocks and wood. It's even quieter here.
